You are capable of so much more!

Over the weekend I became a Master NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) Practitioner, which is a huge accomplishment and something I’m so very proud of. Over six months the program forced me to ?challenge myself in new ways and do things I wouldn’t?ordinarily do or didn’t think I was capable of.

One of the biggest mental challenges was believing I could break a board with my bare hands – without breaking any bones. The board I broke was given to me on day-one of the program, back in February. I was instructed to write all of my goals on one side and all of my obstacles on the other.?Over six months I continued to add goals and obstacles and then yesterday I had a ‘breakthrough’ – literally!

Together with the rest of the class we watched two experienced board-breakers smash through boards like they were tissue paper. And all we needed to do was copy them! What I learnt is the key to a successful board-break is not strength or power, it’s state and technique.

As you’ll see in the below video, I spent a large portion of the exercise getting into the right state, clearing my mind and visualising my outcome (my hand on the floor beneath the?board). I had generated so much energy through the breathing that when it came time to break the board I never even considered that it might not work. I was completely?focused on what I could achieve.

Breaking the board was such a powerful metaphor. Imagine what we are capable of achieving, if we just focus on what we want? Imagine the feeling of being fully committed to?achieving an outcome?that nothing will stop you.?Feels a little scary huh! That’s ok, don’t let?the feeling put you off, push through it and see what’s on the other side.

I believe that if we control our focus,?I mean really control our focus, then we can achieve anything!

I’d love to hear what you’ve?achieved?that you never thought possible?
